Our Colmers Basketball Academy launched in September 2022, in partnership with the Bromsgrove Bears. The Academy forms an integral part of our Sixth Form.
Students who join the Academy have full access to all of the courses on offer in our Sixth Form and in addition, train weekly with Bromsgrove Bears and compete at National League level. Professional coaching and weekly games are part of the Academy timetable, with Wednesday afternoons devoted to Basketball. In addition, Academy students are able to choose from a range of coaching courses to develop their sporting expertise and also have the opportunity to gain a Sports Leadership Qualification. Students in the Academy can choose from a traditional academic route, studying 3 A’Level courses, or can opt to take a Level 3 BTEC Sport course. Those choosing the vocational sport BTEC can either take one A’level alongside the BTEC or can instead complete a range of coaching and sports leadership courses as part of their sixth form pathway. The Basketball Academy is a truly exciting opportunity for young people who want to continue with their studies while pursuing a love of basketball.
Whether sport is something that will remain a lifelong interest or something that you wish to pursue as a career, the Academy pathway offers life-changing opportunities. It is an ideal route through to sport-related university courses or into professional sporting activity.
