Business Studies Curriculum Intent
Business Studies at Colmers is a constantly evolving subject that is hugely applicable to the world around us. It is a vibrant, stimulating and ‘real time’ subject which will engage and challenge students, as they begin to learn the fundamental principles of Business. Students will develop practical skills that can be applied to real-life contexts and work situations. They will be encouraged to think creatively, innovatively and analytically, whilst also developing independence and confidence in using skills that would be relevant to the business and enterprise sector.

By the end of Year 10
Students will be able to effectively apply their knowledge of business activity, marketing, people in businesses and finance to a real-world scenario. They will learn to demonstrate understanding, make judgements and draw conclusions. Case studies will be used to support understanding of business concepts whilst gaining the skills to evaluate and analyse real world business problems.
By the end of Year 11
Students will be able to successfully apply their knowledge of business activity, marketing, people in businesses, operations, finance, influences on a business and the interdependent nature of business. Students will be able to apply key exam skills which they will have developed across Year 10 and 11, including to demonstrate and apply knowledge as well as evaluate and analyse business scenarios.
